Sailing Taster Day Experience

Curious about life on the water? Swap the shore for the sea and discover the thrill of sailing with our one-day introductory sailing experience.

If you’ve ever watched yachts gliding across the horizon or out on the river and wondered what it’s like to be at the helm, our Taster Days are designed for you.

There is no experience necessary and no pressure — just a day of fresh air, new skills, and the chance to "give it a go" under the guidance of a professional instructor.

What to Expect:

Your day begins at 09:00 at our base at Chatham Marina. After a quick briefing and a warm drink, we’ll head out onto the water. Under the watchful eye of your instructor, you’ll have the chance to:

Take the Helm: Feel the power of the wind as you steer the yacht.
Learn the Ropes: Get hands-on with basic sail trimming and essential knots.
Experience the Medway: Enjoy the unique perspective of the Kent coastline from the deck.

We aim to have you back at the marina by 17:00, hopefully with a new passion for the sea!

What’s Included

Expert Instruction: Small groups led by experienced, friendly instructors.
Safety Gear: All necessary lifejackets and safety equipment provided.
Refreshments: Plenty of tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep you fueled throughout the day.

What to Bring

Lunch: Please bring a packed lunch to enjoy on board while we are at anchor or underway.
Clothing: Layers are key! Even on sunny days, it can be cooler on the water. Bring a waterproof jacket and non-slip, non-marking shoes (trainers are perfect).
