Course Outline
Sailing Skills training provides tuition to improve sailing skills beyond the normal basics of competent crew or day skipper courses. It includes sail handling, sail trim, helmsmanship under sail, and boat handling under sail in confined spaces.
The courses are run over two or three days and instructors will design the course to support the level of skills onboard to ensure you improve your understanding of basic sail handling, manoeuvres, sail trim and more advanced sail handling.
The drills and practice may include MOB under sail, anchoring under sail, moorings under sail and in all scenarios, decision making, preparation and the execution will be discussed with feedback and guidance provided.
Format Options
- 2-day and 3-day course starting at 0900 and finishing at 1700 on the last day (runs weekends and weekdays)
This is a residential course and full board is provided.
The Sailing Skills course is not an RYA course, therefore, you are unable to complete an RYA certification on this course.
Previous Knowledge/Experience
RYA Competent Crew, RYA Day Skipper Practical, Coastal Skipper or equivalent knowledge or experience.
