RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling

RYA Level 2 Powerboat is a complete two-day course that provides all the skills and background knowledge required to take charge of a powerboat in moderate conditions and primarily in daylight. The course completion certificate is sufficient to support an application for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). This is primarily a hands-on practical course with most of the training conducted on the water aboard our Humber 7.5 metre RIB. You will learn to prepare the vessel and crew for sea and how to drive and manoeuvre the RIB at slow and high speed including docking in the marina, mooring, anchoring and dealing with emergencies such as man-overboard. There is also a classroom element covering powerboat designs, safety equipment and procedures, nautical charts, basic navigation methods, electronic navigation systems, tides, (levels and streams), passage planning and Rules of the Road. You will be part of a crew of 3 students and one instructor. We provide all safety equipment and waterproof clothing if required. No previous experience or qualifications are required and you do not need to bring any specialist clothing or kit. The course is great fun and on successful completion you will be awarded the RYA Powerboat 2 Certificate - showing that you have a achieved that level of competence.
